According to Wikipedia, Videology is an advertising software company based in New York City. It was founded in 2007 as Tidal TV and launched a Hulu competitor in 2008.
Videology is rumored to be seeking a buyer after a recent corporate restructure in late 2017 which has resulted in it losing 5-6% of its global headcount.
The cutbacks have reportedly impacted its workforce in the US, APAC and Europe.
According to SEC filings, Videology Inc. (TidalTV) has filed Form D to raise capital from investors several times between 2009 and 2013. According to the most recent filing in 2013, the total offering amount was $68,279,712, and the amount sold was $68,279,712.
Investments such as these are typically sold by brokerage firms in exchange for a large up front commission. High fees can range from 7-10%, as well as additional “due diligence fees” that can range from 1-3%.
The problem with private placement investments such as Videology Inc. is that they typically involve a high degree of risk. They are also often sold as unregistered securities which lack the same regulatory oversight as more traditional investment products like stocks or bonds.
