Michael D. Kennedy
Michael D. Kennedy is an associate with The White Law Group where he practices in the area of securities arbitration. Mr. Kennedy is based out of the firm’s Chicago office. He is a member of the Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations, as well as a member of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association (PIABA), an association of securities attorneys who dedicate their practices to the representation of investors defrauded by their financial professional or brokerage firm.
Mr. Kennedy has handled more than 100 FINRA arbitration cases. These cases have included claims for, among others, unsuitability, negligence, fraud, failure to supervise, breach of fiduciary duty and failure of the broker-dealer to perform adequate due diligence.
Before beginning his legal career, Mr. Kennedy was a teacher and takes pride in helping his clients to understand their legal rights and the litigation process. While his practice is dedicated primarily to securities cases on behalf of defrauded investors, he has previous legal experience in commercial litigation, personal injury cases, landlord-tenant disputes, and collections cases.
Mr. Kennedy graduated from DePaul University College of Law, where he also received his Certificate in Business Law. While at DePaul, he was a member of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration team where he worked on complex commercial disputes. As a member of the Vis, Mr. Kennedy drafted briefs for the arbitrators and presented arguments orally at arbitration hearings in Hong Kong.
When not working, Mr. Kennedy is an avid sports fan, following Chicago’s professional teams and cheering for his alma mater, the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
