Recovery of iShares MSCI Russia Capped Losses

Have you suffered losses investing in iShares MSCI Russia Capped?  If so, the securities attorneys of The White Law Group may be able to help you recover your losses in a FINRA arbitration claim against the brokerage firm that recommended the investment.

iShares MSCI Russia Capped is an exchange-traded fund.  The investment seeks investment results that correspond generally to the performance, before the fund’s fees and expenses, of an equity index called the S&P/TSX High Income Energy Index. The fund, using a “passive” or “indexing” investment approach, seeks to replicate, before the fund’s fees and expenses, the performance of the index. The index is a rules-based index comprised of approximately 44 Canadian equity securities considered by S&P Dow Jones Indices LLC to be “high yielding” (with dividend yields generally higher than 1.5%-2%) in the energy sector that meet size and liquidity requirements. The fund is non-diversified.  iShares MSCI Russia Capped is down 43.33% year-to-date.

Commodity ETFs can be extremely complex and risky.  They are only suitable for wealthy, sophisticated retail investors or institutional investors.

Brokerage firms that sell such products are required to perform adequate due diligence on the investments to ensure a reasonable likelihood of success, and to evaluate whether the investments are suitable in light of the client’s age, net worth, investment experience, and investment objectives.  Firms that fail to perform adequate due diligence, or that make unsuitable recommendations, can be held responsible for losses in a FINRA arbitration claim.
